STEP-BY-STEP BUYER’S GUIDE
Buying a home is one of the most exciting moments of your life. This step-by step guide is designed to help you know what to expect during the home buying process.
Step 1: Preparation and preapproval
Sit down with your agent to discuss goals, timeline, and criteria. Review qualified lenders and obtain a preapproval letter.
Step 2: Find the right home
Your agent will arrange showings of homes you’re interested in that are within your price range.
Step 3: Make an offer
Once you have selected the perfect home, work with your agent to craft a fair offer based on the value of comparable homes on the market.
Step 4: Have the home inspected
In most cases, your offer will be contingent on having the home inspected to ensure there is no major structural damage. If there are major issues, you can renegotiate your offer.
Step 5: Escrow
Once your offer is accepted, you will submit a contract deposit into escrow, and your closing will take place within 7-30 days.
Step 6: The mortgage process
Work with your mortgage lender to select your mortgage based on your unique financial situation. The bank will order an appraisal and start the process of underwriting your loan.
Step 7: Walk-through and close of escrow
You will perform a walk-through of the property and sign your bank and closing statements. The final step is for the Title company to record the new deed, and the keys are yours!
